The Little Planters Programme

The Science Department will be starting The Little Planters Programme (August to November ) for Lower Primary pupils!

With high-rise living, many of us tend to feel that we are being deprived of the opportunity to enjoy nature. But nature is everywhere if only we care to stop for a moment and observe. It is in the fields, gardens, parks, waste grounds, by the roadsides and even on pavements where there are numerous little wild plants.

With this programme, the Science Department hopes to create the opportunity for our lower primary pupils to have hands-on sessions to observe for themselves how fascinating plants can be. In the process, pupils can learn that there are no useless species in nature. All of them have a particular role to play in maintaining the total ecological balance. They can learn more about some of the common plants that surround us that makes our environment rich and green.

This programme will be led by a group of dedicated volunteers to help our pupils through their learning journey.

• In their assigned groups, pupils will go to the area in front of 1Diligence classroom during recess to meet the Eco Parent Volunteer who will assist them in their gardening programme.
• Each group will have their gardening activities for two weeks.
• There should be 10 weeks of gardening sessions to cater to the 5 groups from each class.
• Pupils will have their recess for the first 10 minutes.
• After that, they will report to the Eco Parent Volunteer.
• Pupils will proceed straight to their classroom after their gardening activities.
• Plastic gloves, plastic spades and plastic bottles (for watering of plants) will be provided.
